Tinkerbell’s - Silvermist Fairy in a Princess Dress!

I love making doll cakes; it’s like playing dress up when I was a little girl. Changing the looks of my dolls was a habit, so I was very excited to work on this order….
I loved the way my costumer changed the theme of one Tinkerbell’s Fairy and gave her a Princess makeover for a day! We also changed her colors of Blues to Pink’s for a girly look!
SIMPLY LOVED IT!
To keep cost down the customer purchased a sheet cake and brought it to me the night before the event. I made the doll cake and attached it to the single layer sheet cake. I also incorporated the dolls color schemes to the sheet cake so it can look as one. Cake Pops in Princess Theme were made to be given out as favors.
Doll cake was a vanilla cake, strawberry filling, and BC frosting decorated with pearl beads. Cake pops were both Vanilla and Chocolate covered in Pink and White Chocolate and decorated with princess items (crown, wand, castles).

RIO Cake for David’s 5th Birthday

I was a little short on time but I think the turn out as a good one. The little man wanted a RIO cake so my first vision was to make gum paste characters but sadly didn’t have the time to work on them. I aimed to free drawing one of my favorite scenes in the movie; when Blue met Jewel for the very first time. I knew I want to have tropical colors, and wanted more like a sketch look. So was pleased with the outcome and so was the little man. He loved his cake!
This is a double layer sheet cake, strawberry and banana filling, with vanilla BC frosting.

Piñ̃a Colada Cake with Malibu Rum

Hey there!
I have been kept from the kitchen these past few weeks due to my father being very ill; but, I’m back in session. I was able to complete a few little projects here and there so let’s get updated….
Father’s Day ‘11
This year we decided to all reunite and spend some time with my father since things didn’t look so bright for him or for us. Pretty much made it simple…We ordered Lunch!  I was selected to bring in a dessert (happens to me A LOT by the way) and I wanted to make something a little different and with a lot of flavor. I kept thinking.... Tropical but yet had to have Coconut (dad’s favorite).
GOT IT!  Piñ̃a Colada Cake with Malibu Rum!  YUMMO!!!
This cake was a total delight!  Everyone enjoyed it and got great reviews!
So two thumbs up for me… lol… Check it out….

Grad Cake Pop Basket

Been very busy this week getting all the grads their baskets, but it has been a blast!  Each basket has a dozen cake pops in Chocolate and Vanilla cake. They are dipped in chocolate in the color their choice (school colors, favorite colors, or open for me to choose). They are hand decorated for each occasion and in this case its graduation!
Congratulations Christian!!!
Remember there is a good reason they call these ceremonies 'commencement exercises'. Graduation is not the end; it's the beginning..by: Orrin Hatch!

I wish you much success in your next journey!  =)

Hoppy Frog Birthday Cake for Caleb!

This weekend was interesting… This cake was for a customer who was celebrating her son’s first birthday. She saw this cake on Cake Central. (Best place to get tips, help, and idea for a cake). The Original Sugar Artist had a great vision on this piece and my customer wanted to share it with friends and family.

Here is the frog cake requested.

To keep cost down, I used 5 boxes of Cake Mixes instead of doing it from scratch. The entire cake was filled with Strawberry Filling. Used star tip # 17; a 12” Round Pan (2 Chocolate Cake Mixes), a 10” Square Pan for the legs (2 Vanilla Cake Mixes), ½ of Vanilla Cake Mix to make 4 Jumbo Cupcakes (2 extra’s just in case), and the other ½ on a 6” Smash Cake for the Birthday boy which I free hand the frog and alternated the colors.  All covered in Vanilla Butter Cream.  Total of 5 boxes, I had to go up in size do to the count of people attending. Original Cake called for 8” and a 9”. This was fun and a very long project. The worse part of this project was, I did it in 95 ̊̊weather, with NO air conditioning… not fun!
Love to hear what you guys think…    Happy Baking!
